With 800 participants and the incredible Rwanda Youth Music leading as Game-Masters. The REFLEX playground inspired by children outdoor games. Commissioned and produced by Musicians without Borders, Danny Felsteiner and Keren Rosenbaum. (Supported of W-ACT) In 2012 Musicians without Borders initiated a year-long music project for 25 youth leaders in Kigali, Rwanda.
They youth guides were trained to use the power of music to bring joy and healing to hundreds of underprivileged children.
Now, a year later, on March 2nd, the youth leaders will receive a diploma for their training. There will be a ceremony with all of the children and families the youth leaders have worked with in the program. It will be a beautiful event that the youth leaders are organizing themselves.
For this music event the collaboration with the REFLEX Listening Revolution created the together with the youth leaders for one week, preparing and guiding them to produce and run the event. 800 people including youth leaders, children, parents, elders, even babies, were actively engaged in a huge musical score/performance, creating music together, following a musical game that the youth leaders are designing and will guide themselves.
Communication practices are one of the key factors in maintaining a healthy, supportive community, which these children and their families need the most. Authentic creativity in an art form can result in one of the highest levels of self-expression, stress release, and an immediate inspiration that quickly spreads. Music brings healing and establishes bonds that ensure a more peaceful future. You can make a lasting difference in Rwanda.
